Wish wire transfers were free on Revolut (Metal plan or otherwise) - running into a scheduling wall
I have a broker account I want to send a set amount to every month, on autopilot. But that broker only supports account linking through Plaid, and Revolut isn't linkable that way. So right now I have to route money through a separate bank account first, which defeats the whole "set it and forget it" plan I'm trying to build.
**What I actually want is simple: paycheck and spending money lands in Revolut, and a fixed amount wires out to my broker automatically every month, no manual steps.**
The broker's dashboard says wires are free and gives me the wire details, but sending a wire I have to manually type in "special instructions" - this is the FFC (For Further Credit) line with my actual account number, since the routing/account info in the main fields is just the broker's pooled omnibus account, not my specific sub-account. The problem: when I save the wire recipient as a contact, the FFC info doesn't get saved with it.
So a few questions for anyone who's dealt with this:
\-Does a scheduled/recurring wire actually save the FFC special instructions? Or does it only replay the saved contact info (which would leave out my FFC/account number every time)?
\-If I need to pause a scheduled wire, can I actually pause it, or does pausing mean I have to tear it down and rebuild the whole thing from scratch - which brings back problem #1 if I forget the FFC info had to be re-entered?
\-Does anyone know why wires are free on the broker's side but not on Revolut's? The reason this even comes up: I can't Iink Revolut to the broker because Revolut doesn't support Plaid. So the "easy" setup for me right now is spending/bill money going to Revolut, and separately, broker money going to the account that's actually linked via Plaid. That means I'm juggling 4 accounts total, when really this should just be 2: Revolut for everyday spending, and a monthly transfer straight to the broker. But because of how account linking works these days, I can't get there.
Honestly this whole mess is just another symptom of how much US banking(or global banking IDK) has regressed over the last decade. I switched to Revolut because we travel abroad a lot and are about to again soon - it's a US bank since that's where I'm based, but I love the features it has and how the UI looks overall compared to traditional banks. I just wish it played nicer with US brokers instead of getting boxed out by Plaid-only linking.
Would love to hear if anyone's actually gotten a scheduled wire to work cleanly with FFC instructions included. I haven't tried the recurring wire yet — I really don't want to pay $10/month to send money to my broker each month, but I might have to eat it, since it seems like the only way to do this on a schedule with any bank account I have. I did try a transfer once but picked ACH by user error and it failed (got that resolved, just haven't tried the wire yet because of the fee — $10/month adds up to $120/year).
It just sucks that something this simple takes multiple banks and workarounds, and Revolut seems to be the only piece that actually works cleanly to set a reoccurring transfer. And I wish someone at Revolut would add a reference/memo field that saves with the contact, for exactly this reason.

Thanks,
