What I will say is that just from purely a financial perspective, a stable high paying healthcare career + riskier/volatile but high earning early on tech career are two of the best combos to have
Healthcare accumulates debt early on but yearly salary generally surpasses tech. Lifetime earnings it’s more variable and debated, depends a lot on interest rates and total student debt of course, but benefitting him is that he will have a very steady and safe high earning ~400K (take this number w a grain of salt, I’m MD not DDS) paycheck until he wants to stop working someday, whereas your risk of being laid off with any swings in the tech industry are of course much higher
Healthcare is slower to pay off investment wise but much more stable in the long run
