I save 20% of my gross (pre-tax) income. I contribute 5% to my 401k because that gets the max match from my employer so 15% goes to my taxable investment account. Every payday that 15% amount gets transferred. Investment mix is up to you. I have 70% stocks/22% bonds/8% cash. Everything is ETF with one MF. All are vetted through Morningstar and I check their ratings periodically. I’m pretty much buy and hold. If I decide I want to take a gain right now ST/LT doesn’t matter because I have a CLCO but when it’s gone I’ll only sell LT for tax reasons. The cash is my rainy day fund so when I get comfortable with it I’ll buy more of my existing holdings. Boring but nice seeing the balances consistently going up.
