Nothing against COK, CCU is well placed to be a better stopover for all lcc flight to South Asia but don't know why it is not utilized properly.
Any flight more than 2 hrs in cardboard seats of indian lcc's is atrocious

CCU has 14 while COK has 21. CCU could be gateway for northern/central/western india to connect with south asia extensively till Manila and beyond considering majority of the aircraft flown by indian airlines are narrow body but demand/route planning seems to be the problem.
