I retired at 60. I figured out what my expenses were less 90% of dividends, interest, small pension and social security (my late wife’s). Once I understood that delta, I put that delta four years into SGOV. This should help insulated me from markets chaos. Outside of the 90% dividend spend, I should not have to sell any investments.
Of the reminder of my portfolio, 65% went into SCHD, VIG and SCHY. This is my engine to beat inflation. Total of 20% into DIVO and IDVO, these funds combined capital appreciation and income. The last 15% into RFI, MLPA and BUI.
