Giving you a real answer:
The reason why people are generally not huge on momentum is because it can have very large downturns. If you don't need your money in a very long time that's chill, but if you feel like you might need to within the next year or two, then you could be losing money. Momentum can outperform the standard market cap ETF but it will have a lot more volatility. The safe recommendation is to go with general market cap weighted ETFs (eg VT), or use factor (eg AVGE)

I stopped listening to the VOO and Never Retire crowd years ago and tripled my portfolio. Not by chasing nonsense, but putting roughly 50% in SPMO, 30% FMTM, 20% AVGE. It’s little different looking today, but I crossed $1M in June and trimmed. If I put the same allocation into VOO I’d still be sitting on peanuts. Like these guys who think 150% growth isn’t worth paying a $500 fee.

I just think /r/personalfinance and /r/etfs should not peddle trash, and should offer good advice like VT or AVGE.

I went with avantis only for the fact I preferred AVNM for its value factor tilt over DFAX which basically is just VXUS without the constraints of indexing. It’s the opposite reason to why I choose DFUS over DFAC/AVUS. I wanted to specifically partition my factor tilt towards values for my US holding.
It’s a deliberate home country bias by me. I was debating between 20-30% and I thought 25% was a decent percentage. My old portfolio was 15% so it’s an improvement. The max I’d go is 30% to be honest.
Why keep XMMO and completely remove SPMO? Any reason for that in your proposed portfolio?
No you’re good man. I have seen DFAW and AVGE. Seems basically just like a value tilted VT. Seems pretty good but I’d like modulate my own portfolio, though avantis and DFA are great

Nothing. I love the Small Value funds (I have AVDV but FSEV for US, for now anyway) the mid cap momentum is an interesting bet. Any reason you went Dimensional for US and Avantis for International? Have you looked into the Avantis emerging markets small value fund AVEE? I don’t have it myself, I have DFAE which is more of a multifactor blend approach but definitely tilts to small value.
I keep asking more questions but I guess I’m curious about the weighting of the portfolio in general. You are 75% US, 25% international. Global market cap is 60-65% US, 35-40% international. Is the weight toward US stock a deliberate strategy?
The short answer is I’d make the ratio something in the ballpark of DFUS - 40%, XMMO - 10%, AVUV - 10%, AVNM - 30%, AVDV - 10%
Last question I promise as if I haven’t asked more than enough: have you seen the global active managed funds DFAW or AVGE??

Why do you want a growth fund instead of a blend fund or a value fund?
If you want to get funds with less exposure to the mag 7 and tech stocks generally, you are going to be hard pressed to find a growth fund that does that unless you are looking at small cap growth or international growth.
If what you really want is less technology and don't actually care about value vs blend vs growth, then look at large cap value and at international generally.
Small cap growth funds (note, I would only want my worst enemies to actually invest in small cap growth, this is a terrible sector generally): VTWG, ISCG
International growth: IDMO, VDG
International blend: DFAX, AVNM
Large value: VTV, DIVB, SCHD, MGV
Small cap blend: SMLF, FESM
Small cap value: AVUV, VTWV, FNDA
Large blend (with less tech/MAG7 than a typical fund): VFMV, SPHQ, FNDB
But to me the easiest thing is just to buy, and keep buying, a simple global fund like VT, SPGM, DFAW, or AVGE and let the market sort it out.

The only thing keeping me from DFAW/AVGE is the fees. I have a mix of SPYM, SCHF, FSEV, AVDV and DFAE that is roughly market cap weight and total expense fee of .1% and change, less than half of the fee of those active managed global funds. The major drawbacks seem to be tracking error and the possibility of not maintaining the strategy.
