Be careful with your timings. If you mess up you can get hit hard with alternative minimum tax. For this reason, I recommend exercising and selling immediately-- it's the most straightforward and less likely to be screwed up. I'm in a world where I owed taxes on a million dollars but I realized far lower gains when I actually sold. To the way AMT works, it will take me years to earn that tax credit back.

If these are ISO and you early exercised, did you complete the 83b election?
Make sure you find your AMT Breakeven point for any further exercises you do, and make sure to exercise that many each year (near the new year is generally reccomended). Carta has an calculator, as does [https://equitysimplified.com/amt-calculator/](https://equitysimplified.com/amt-calculator/) these may not factor in your state AMT taxes.
