AT&T is my biggest error. I bought it LONG ago.
I ignored the warning signs and kept holding until they cut the dividends. I am still holding it and I am down 8.2% on the price. This gets offset somewhat by the dividends I have collected over time (I'm actually in the black when considering dividends offsetting price loss but it isn't good).
They spun off WBD a few years back and I'm down 18.2% on that. It's trash.
Whenever I am considering holding a stock that is in decline I remember AT&T. When Walgreens (WBA) was looking weak I considered that they might cut dividends. I got out and never looked back.
I learned a valuable lesson from AT&T. Don't let your optimism cloud your judgement.

Yeah and now you will recognize capital gains and losses when you sell. That's why ETFs may be optimal, because you can just hold forever and pull in payments. So when WBA and KHC shit the bed you're not bagholding.
