The investment seeks high current income without undue risk to principal. Under normal circumstances, the fund invests at least 80% of its net assets (plus any borrowings for investment purposes, exclusive of collateral held from securities lending) in debt securities and in derivatives and other instruments that have economic characteristics similar to such securities. The fund may not invest more than 20% of fixed-income securities (by weight of all fixed-income securities in the portfolio) in non-agency, non-government sponsored entities (GSEs), or privately issued mortgage- or asset-backed securities.
