I’m pretty confident in where this is heading. Obviously nothing is guaranteed until permits and financing are finalized, but at some point you have to look at everything happening around the project and connect the dots.
They’ve secured the full 70 MW power allocation, the debt mandate has grown to US$1.2B with some pretty serious lenders behind it, basic engineering is finished, detailed engineering is underway, and now they’re actually moving forward with Metso on major processing equipment. They’re also already working on construction packages, site preparation, staffing and bringing contractors in early.
That’s a lot of work and money being committed to a project that’s supposedly still just a “maybe.”
The Québec government selecting Troilus as one of the first projects under Filon is another thing I wouldn’t overlook. It doesn’t guarantee approval, but having a dedicated government process helping coordinate a project through permitting certainly doesn’t hurt.
And this is a huge, long-life project on a former mine site with a lot of infrastructure already there. They’re not trying to prove they have a deposit anymore. We know what’s in the ground and we know the scale of the proposed operation. At this stage it’s really about getting the remaining approvals, locking down the financing and executing.
That’s why I think permits are such a big turning point; If those land and the financing follows, a huge part of the uncertainty that has kept TLG valued like a developer starts disappearing.
Could there still be delays, dilution or construction issues? Of course. But personally I think the probability of Troilus actually becoming a mine is significantly higher today than it was even a year ago.
They’re not talking about getting ready anymore. They’re actually getting ready.

Been following Troilus Mining ($TLG.TO) and the Metso news stood out because they’re starting to lock in some of the actual equipment needed for the mine. Metso was selected for the first major package, covering crushers, feeders, screens and mills, and they’re already involved in the engineering and construction planning.
What makes this more interesting is everything that’s happened around the project in just the last few months. Troilus has secured 70 MW of Hydro-Quebec power, been selected for Quebec’s Filon program, moved forward with a US$1.2B debt mandate and continued detailed engineering. Now they’re bringing Metso into the picture and expect more equipment, construction and mining contracts to move forward later this year.
There are still major steps left with financing and permitting, but it feels like more of the pieces needed to actually build this mine are starting to come together. Curious what everyone thinks the biggest remaining hurdle is for Troilus.
