Be careful with TBBK.  That REBL loan book has been giving them trouble for over a year now and management hasn’t been fully honest about it tbh.

In a market obsessed with mega-cap narratives and AI hype cycles, I’ve been hunting for under-followed small and mid-cap names where quality, valuation, and durable growth still intersect. These aren’t lottery tickets, but businesses with repeatable economic engines, real free cash flow and long runways.
Ituran Location and Control (ITRN)
Profile:
Israel-based telematics company providing vehicle tracking, fleet management and stolen vehicle recovery services across Latin America and other emerging markets.
Thesis:
A rare profitable telematics play with 25%+ ROIC, near debt-free balance sheet and a sticky recurring revenue model serving automotive and fleet security. Trading at just 11x EV/FCF, Ituran combines defensive cash flows with exposure to an expanding install base. Management has consistently bought back stock and hiked dividends, owner-operator incentives are real here.
Kongsberg Gruppen (KOG)
Profile:
Norwegian industrial and defense conglomerate, specializing in maritime automation, advanced defense systems and renewables technology.
Thesis:
Kongsberg is the high-tech Norwegian outlier, blending defense, maritime automation and renewables. ROIC near 10% with a clean 0.28 debt/equity and €26B market cap puts it in the EU “sleep well” category. Secular tailwinds in defense tech and global marine digitization provide an enviable backlog and optionality on margins as automation deepens.
4imprint Group (FOUR.L)
Profile:
US- and UK-based distributor of promotional products and branded merchandise, operating with an asset-light D2C model.
Thesis:
Most overlook branded swag but 4imprint’s asset-light model churns out 1.12 ROIC, six-figure FCF, and double-digit growth, with nearly zero leverage. At 10x EV/FCF, you get a founder-led, cash-rich compounder with a dominant US niche. They’ve returned cash via buybacks and special dividends. It’s a distribution engine hiding in plain sight.
Evolution AB (EVO.ST)
Profile:
Swedish provider of live casino and gaming infrastructure, serving regulated B2B customers globally.
Thesis:
Global leader in B2B live casino infrastructure, Evolution is the rare small/mid-cap with a true economic moat 0.27 ROIC, near-zero debt and sticky platform relationships with top gaming operators. EV/FCF remains reasonable for a business growing double-digits organically. This is the backend for regulated online gaming worldwide, with both Europe and North America as growth drivers.
The Bancorp (TBBK)
Profile:
US-based bank specializing in providing white-label banking services and payment solutions to fintech and financial platforms.
Thesis:
A fintech infrastructure backbone, not another neobank. The Bancorp has quietly built a high-ROIC (13%), small-bank operation supplying white-label banking for top fintechs and payments players. With a 0.36 debt/equity, 9x EV/FCF, and accelerating deposit growth, it sits at the intersection of old-school discipline and digital financial rails.
