With this mindset you’re way ahead for 18. Just keep some cash for emergencies and keep your investments simple. VFV, QQC and XIC are solid options but they overlap so understand what you’re buying. Focus on low fees, invest consistently and think long term. Your biggest advantage is time

Hey, I’m turning 18 in 20 days, and have around 9000$CAD saved up, I have been researching how and what to invest some of this money into while I’m at college as my schooling is paid for via a RESP which is a Canadian education saving.
I’ve been thinking of investing into VFV, QQC and XIC. I don’t know how I should split my portfolio up between these three and if these are good picks, I’m going to invest around 6500$ on my savings and keep the rest liquid in a HYSA if I need it during school, all this will be done in a TFSA other than the non invested cash,
Any tips are helpful. I’ve been exited to invest for a while, just waiting to open my account!

congrats! there is not ever a bad time to start. What matters is that you've started. time in the market beats timing the market everytime.

XEQT, VFV, QQC to name a few. Giving you exposure to worldwide markets, the S&P500 and the NASDAQ-100 as a Canadian
