From my perspective, bio-tech small and micro cap stocks are not just risky and volatile, but face roadblocks in the hobbled regulatory process at the FDA. It seems that companies that have made real progress towards a real treatment or hope for a cure are stalled out and have no way to bring that progress to fruition. 
I’ve held on to a couple of those, QCLS and LNAI for instance, and find it really hard to give up on them.
