RKLB acquired IRDM giving RKLB more revenue. ASTS is doing a joint venture with Rakuten which makes them a likely to get awarded the J-LEO contract.

Most likely no. Acquisition details have already been shared with the main point being that RKLB will purchase IRDM at a notional value of $54. IRDM will probably just stabilize around this price until mid-2027 which is when the deal will finalize. The entire options chain would have more or less already priced this in as of the announcement.

OP, $IRDM got bought out today. What a run...

Iridium was the first space stock I bought way back, now RKLB is my biggest position since the run from $4. I’ve trimmed down IRDM over the years as I’ve diversified, they made me nothing but profit, but I’m happy to see an old friend returning to make me more money. 

**Rocket Lab $RKLB Acquires Iridium $IRDM for $8 Billion**
Rocket Lab agreed to acquire Iridium Communications in a cash-and-stock deal valued at approximately $8 billion, giving Rocket Lab control over Iridium's 66-satellite low-Earth orbit network, globally licensed L-band spectrum, and a customer base of more than 2.55 million subscribers spanning government, defense, aviation, maritime, and commercial markets. Each Iridium share is valued at $54 — half in cash, half in Rocket Lab stock — representing a 24.1% premium. The deal is expected to close in mid-2027. Iridium shares jumped \~21% on the news, while Rocket Lab gained around 8–10%. 

**Comcast $CMCSA Splits Itself in Two**
Comcast announced it will split into two publicly traded companies, spinning off NBCUniversal and Sky and separating its cash-generating broadband arm from its media and entertainment business under pressure from streaming rivals. Shares surged 22% on the news. Comcast co-CEO Mike Cavanagh will become the CEO of NBCUniversal, while former CFO Michael Angelakis will lead the remaining Comcast broadband business following the separation. Charter Communications $CHTR also jumped 20% on reports it was in talks with SpaceX $SPCX about a consumer mobile phone partnership using Charter's broadband network.

**SpaceX $SPCX Joins the Nasdaq 100**
Nasdaq confirmed that SpaceX will join the Nasdaq 100 index on July 7, meaning shares will soon be added to popular index-tracking funds like the Invesco QQQ Trust. SpaceX stock rose around 3% on the news, trading near $158. SpaceX went public on June 12 in what has been described as the largest IPO in history, raising $86 billion at a valuation of $1.77 trillion — and on its first trading day reached a market cap of approximately $2.1 trillion.

Looks like I'm a new RKLB shareholder. Bought a few hundred shares of IRDM back on 1/8/26.
