The savings have had FSCS protection for a while before the current accounts got it, because they were stored with a different bank. You can pretty much trust Revolut with whatever amount of money you wouldn't mind waiting a couple of months to get access to in case your account ever got restricted and it took months to get the issue resolved. For me that's only a few hundred right now. But for others it will be thousands. However, the interest rate on savings isn't great.
