Short interest was on June 15th. A lot of volume since then could have changed a lot Should update in a few days.
Also, i think there's sometimes loopholes where insiders can short. They don't ever need to buy, they just use their shares after merger to cover their position. I think it's not typical but can happen in rare instances around merger time. For example, sometimes some of the venture capitalists that own the target company have some shares that aren't locked up. Againz usually they are but not always. There's also FPA that sometimes aren't locked.
