Ed Slott would look at your $1.2m traditional 401k and say it's a liability. By the time RMD's kick in, that balance will have grown to $10m if you haven't already taken withdrawals or converted part of it to Roth. RMDs could force you to have a $1m income in your later years, regardless of your cost of living.
If you have heirs, your Traditional might put them into the top tax bracket in their highest earning years.
