Great trade but ill agree with others. Luck.
Lucky that you didnt get stopped out, you placed a stop basically right below the candle you entered on.
But you have good analysis and know what you're doing there. Of course you made 7 R on the next candle, you risked 30 cents on a daily scale. That could have easily killed your trade.
If that is your typical placement I imagine you see a lot of losses, which makes sense why you think 1% is too much. .2 % risk makes sense if you get stopped out a lot, you've learned to take very small risk and let occasional big winners like this make up for all the losses, is what I'm guessing
an expectancy of .35R I'd say is pretty poor.
But IMO you're over exposed, what would have happened if some overnight news hit right after entry ?
What if the CEO of Hewlet was found in bed with a hooker the next day or some other such nonsense?
Opened up 2+ ATRS down ? You'd have been fucked and you stop wouldn't save you.

if 250 bucks is about .2% then you have a 100k -ish account, you tied up 20% of that account for like 3 months to make about 7%
.2 % risk to make 7% gain is fantastic, happy you won, but not at all typical, and mostly luck a bad candle didn't eat you. But 20% of capital to make 7% in 3 months in my opinion is Meh.
Last month, I swung for the first time.
I normally am a day trader.
I took about 2 trades a week. I use my 4H chart for trend assessment and time entries on the 1H.
most trades lasting 2-8 days
And I averaged 3-4% a week, risking 1% And shooting for 2%
I give myself a good amount of room, and so my positions are less concentrated then yours. I also scale out at .5R and move my wide stop up by half, to achieve break even. So Most of my failed trades are break evens, I don't lose money often, I have to be really wrong on the general direction. so between the two halves I average 1.5R I very rarely pull the position early unless I see long term momentum flattening out and Id rather secure profits then avoid sitting through pull backs.
Day trading is much better, same strategy on futures, mostly gold, Same exact set up, just faster, but isnce day trading is way crazier in terms of surprises and noise I shoot for only 1R, but theres a trade every day generally
A wider stop with less exposure would have been smarter.
Which would have tied up less capital.

OR - you could have maybe used a Zero extrinsic Back Ratio set up to participate in the trade for a Theta Positive approximately 80% less capital. Which could have been employed elsewhere.
