Purely anecdotal, but things are feeling ALOT like 1999 right now.
I'm not going to act on it, but it makes me wonder when the AI is going to hit the fan. Heck, it could be a decade away...or never...and hopefully not tomorrow!

Hey everyone,
I recently started learning about day-trading (reading candlesticks, risk management, spotting trends, developing strategies, paper trading, etc.) and have been watching ALOT of YT videos. The biggest question most YouTubers don’t answer is how much is needed to actually start day-trading. Can I start with just $100 or do I need $1000 in an account. The short-term goal is to make $1000 a month and grow from there, and I probably won’t achieve that until a year later maybe. I know it sounds super small but before I dream big and think about replacing my 9-5, I wanted to see if it’s even feasible for myself. I just need to know a realistic starting point. Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated.

It's a steep learning curve, but once you put the time in to figure it out it starts making a lot more sense.
Definitely start with the safe ETF's, don't try stocks until you know ALOT more

I wouldn't do the S&P500 fully. Others may disagree with me here, but there will be a big issue if the markets take a hit within the next 3 years and you no longer have that 100k to use.
Hear me out, I'd park it 40% [SCHD](https://www.schwabassetmanagement.com/products/schd), 40% [SHV](https://www.ishares.com/us/products/239466/ishares-short-treasury-bond-etf), 20% [VOO](https://investor.vanguard.com/investment-products/etfs/profile/voo) (S&P Index)
SCHD tends to be ALOT more defensive than other S&P 500 ETFs. If the markets do take a hit, chances are it will not go down as much. Market exposure isn't bad for the ETF either and it provides a 4% dividend. SHV is 0–1-year treasuries. That will be a 4% return on average. The rest in broad market VOO. If the markets take a hit, your portfolio will hold up strong. It should grow slowly with the market too.
40% in SHV would shield the portfolio as well.
