I think your point here is fair. But I would say that Cosmos is also New in the same sense I talked about World Labs above, especially when most of the AI industry today is built on LLMs. I think AMD is going to Leap Frog where Nvidia is with WL, but it will take time to see. For now, we at least have a situation where both companies are going to make run at moving physical AI forward from a much more level play field.

I'm in a similar situation (I've been 90%+ equities for a long time, but now thinking of income). In the last couple of months, I've taken some gains and de-risked by buying munis (I live in a high-tax state) and building a bond ladder with US treasuries (3-yr, 5yr, 7-yr bills/notes and 10-year TIPS). Side note: I own a whole life insurance policy, which is where I'm holding nearly $100k in cash equivalents and the policy pays annual dividends. The bond ladder has no expense ratio and is offering decent yields and has its tax advantages. The WL policy represents a bond proxy that is tax-advantaged and in a pinch, can be accessed for emergencies or opportunities.

Noone is saying that WL acquisition is a replacement for HF.

WL has only 100 employees which means that Amd payed 82 Mill per employees. This is insane.

I usually like article from the Next Platform, but the way this one starts by casting the WL acquisition is somehow a follow-up to Nvidia's takeover of HF really is a false equivalency. Nvidia picked up a catalog and discovery tool which can be easily build with today AI tools and setup under a new name. AMD bought a whole new segment of AI - physical world understanding - that can influence the end to end developed across ever aspects of their business. These are not comparable and trying to suggest they are is just silly.
