This, quite obviously, is a MASSIVE RED FLAG from Elon Musk & Tesla.
1.) Our wildly unprofitable AI Labs have decided they can't sell tokens for 10% of COGS without going bankrupt.
2.) They very quietly shifted to metered pricing. That is, they tried to charge a price closer to COGS.
3.) Demand is evaporating. Corporations are quietly throttling usage and cutting AI budgets.
4.) Musk's own AI Lab (xAI, now SpaceX) is an unmitigated disaster, so he knows what's happening. (Now, he's throttling usage at his floundering car company.)
5.) In fact, Musk's AI business is failing so badly that he was forced to rent out his beloved Colossus data center because of "excess capacity."
6.) OpenAI and Anthropic are responsible for 80% of compute demand, and they are hemorrhaging cash and headed for bankruptcy.
7.) The other 20% of compute demand has come largely from META, which just announced that it also needs to rent out its (substantial) excess capacity.
Not good.
Very, very bad.
The AI bubble is imploding.
Not with a bang, but a whimper.
Softbank's inability to secure a $6B loans against $100B in OpenAI stock was a classic canary.
Time to run for the hills 🏃‍♂️🧑‍🦽👨‍🦼🛘

Today I’m gunna start be turning down my CENTRAL AC to 69 degrees (FAHRENHEIT!), then I’m gunna drive my ridiculously large SUV around to find some fireworks. Then, I’m gunna light up my monstrously huge grill and cook some RED MEAT while the kids swim in our (private) swimming pool. CACAWWW MOTHERFUCKERS!! 🦅 🇺🇸 🧨
