Pangolin is a Uniswap clone using the same AMM model as the latter. The DEX protocol is built on the Avalanche blockchain offering sub-second transaction finality and cheap transaction fees ideal for retail/micro-ticket traders. PNG is a DEX which runs on Avalanche. It's powered by the same technology principles forming the basis of Uniswap v2. Uniswap's AMM uses a constant product formula (x*y=k). AMM's are unique because unlike centrally operated exchanges which uses an order book to price an asset and facilitate exchange, DEX's use the AMM algorithm and smart contracts to replace the system. A set of two ERC-20/ARC-20 tokens are paired together to form a liquidity pool represented by the smart contract. Anybody can join by depositing equivalent value of the underlying tokens representing the pool's combination, and getting newly generated LP tokens in return as proof of investment. It's quite similar to getting shares from a company in exchange for providing them the funds or liquidity. The LP shares are distributed on a prorated basis and commissions generated from the pool are distributed in line with the LP tokens held by the investor. These pairs act as automated market makers ready to exchange one token with another as long as the 'constant product' remains invariant or changed. The pool profits (commissions) can be withdrawn by the LP by burning their tokens.
