Im avoiding ABT for now, the NEC overhang taking years matters more to me than a sub-16x PE

I looked and bought into this company recently. There are two main bear thesis that is keeping the stock oppressed.
The first one is their Nutrition division which earnings for that particular one has been declining recently due to lower consumer spending. Companies have recently hit the point where they can’t keep raising prices anymore and because consumers are spending less the earnings have taken hit. They also have pending lawsuits from their baby formula causing NEC. There have been mixed results from these lawsuits where some have been dismissed while others had Abbott pay out. The lawsuits don’t really have an end in sight either and could take years.
The second one is the acquisition of Exact Sciences. Abbott took on 22 billion in debt to pay for the acquisition and there is no guarantee that the acquisition will pay off.

here i would like to exchange some links why i think AI on secsor chips can be big [https://group.ntt/en/newsrelease/2026/02/26/260226a.html](https://group.ntt/en/newsrelease/2026/02/26/260226a.html)
AI Agents: NEC and NTT recently demonstrated AI Agents on IOWN that use "semantic communication"only transmitting the "meaning" of data rather than the raw bits which reduces the load on the network by orders of magnitude.
\- it allows either privacy by design - always good for consumers, or as first filter to steal more valuable data only if designed that way lol -
it can solve problem like chinese cars are "blocked" (or tesla cars also have resticted access to certain areas in china) because of risks that they will collect sensitive data, semantics based communications reduce that risk.
>
The intended use cases are scenarios requiring real-time performance where an AI agent continuously monitors the surroundings of a user wearing augmented reality (AR) glasses to identify environmental and contextual changes that can be used to predict and assess risk indicators.
these aricles were from February 26, 2026

while reading articles on japanese companies i keep seeing privacy by design. US companies are collect data for free approach- a "Capture First, Scrub Later" policy. Uber and its partners wants according to new articles sell data for AV training. on one of the pages they write that uber and partners use automated AI to blur faces and license plates before the data is sold or used for training. And this reminds me that Sony has patent for real time on demand censorship - orginaly it was mentioned in articles about gaming, but what if it becomes important patent to go aorund regulations and make data collecting easier?
>The system may also remove scenes entirely. In some cases, it can replace censored content with AI-generated alternatives.

**The Theory: By integrating this "censorship" patent into the sensor, Sony can perform Step 1 (Semantic Labeling) and Step 2 (World Building) before the data leaves the camera.**
obviously seeing alot on internet about privacy there are certain companies that would just prefer to collect it all faces licence plates record phone calls assign the car a number and record its patters then match them to driver..... i hope citizisens can do something about all that and we can get the best outcomes with full privacy

Japan tech stocks. I assume its because not many articles write about them. Hitachi, fujitsu, NEC the all are active in the popular sectors now with great products and services.
so maybe market is not wrong about them, just its difficult to get the information on what these huge conglomerates are doing globaly
