aave paused the buybacks and that’s what gets me. they had a working mechanism that put cash back into the token and just… stopped. morpho is everywhere now but the token feels like an afterthought, nobody needs it to do anything on the platform if coinbase is running morpho under the hood and that doesn’t touch MORPHO at all, then all that growth is just branding for the team. i’d rather own a token that already showed it can capture value even if the faucet’s off right now morpho might flip the switch someday but betting on future tokenomics is a rougher gamble than most people admit. cool tech doesn’t pay the bills unless the token design forces it to

I've been researching Aave and Morpho as both lending infrastructure and token investments. One distinction keeps standing out: a lending protocol can become very successful without necessarily creating meaningful demand for its native token.
