I bought silver in ‘84 when my mom wanted to teach me about savings bonds, precious metals, etc…. I want to say the price was somewhere between $4-$5.
Fast forward to now. I bought SLV during the COVID dip and a few times between then and now. I have been very disappointed with the price. Especially since I put my first stimmy in BTC. This was 0.125 BTC at the time. Later bought my first ETH at $325.
That said, I understand that there might be a day I wake up and all of my crypto is gone or without value. This will never happen with physical gold or silver. I bought my first physical silver in almost 40 years in March of this year.
If you zoom to the one year, you can see the same pattern we completed earlier this year. I think we will completed that same pattern and start heading back to $25ish. If I were you, I would hold until exchanges are having a hard time filling orders. Then take your Santa sack of silver down to the LCS and cash out.
Hopefully, booming silver would mean that stocks are plummeting as crisis mode takes hold. Use that opportunity to enter the market at the dip that all of your friends wish they could buy.
Good luck for whatever you choose, but I feel like this might be the 2 years that you have been prepping for.

I was just looking around at my LCS and the guy offered me a decent deal on 1986 through 1995 and I liked it and got them knowing right then that I’d end up getting one full set of MS69 or MS 70 for every year. It was kind of an impulse. Also, with premiums what they are right now you can get ungraded for what, $40. I can get graded for $50. Lastly, not looking to profit, hopefully a grandchild or great-grandchild will enjoy these decades from now. Thanks for asking!

tl;dr - The coming era of CBDCs and social credit systems will lead to people being cancelled, removing access to their digital wallets. Silver will become a real currency again that can act outside the confines of the CBDC framework. I then question whether the mega-wealthy know this and wonder if they're hoarding the silver and causing the shortage (Though, I'm not fully educated on the silver shortage, and would not mind if anyone pointed me towards the true cause. So, just some tinfoil thinking on this last part.)
___
So, generally I've always preferred gold over silver, but last night I looked into the future and saw silver's true value.
As I assume most here are aware, there is a strong effort to make money digital with CBDCs, ushering in an era of unprecedented control over people's lives. Money will be programmable, and only those who are good citizens and follow the rules will be allowed to participate. However, other citizens will not be so lucky.
Similar to China, a social credit score will likely be tied to our digital wallets. If we hold the wrong political views, spread "hate" speech, or are flagged by the system for some other dystopian reason, access to our digital wallet can be cut off in an instant. Cancelled. You can no longer log in to your bank, your broker. You can't pay for food or buy gas. Basic necessities to live will be inaccessible.
But what if you have gold and silver? **Well, this is when I realized silver is king.**
Gold without access to your digital wallet will be rendered useless for practical living. You won't be able to go to a LCS and have digital currency transferred to your wallet because you're cancelled. You won't give someone 1oz of gold for groceries or a few gallons of gas. You may be able to conduct larger transactions, but for essentials it's not as functional as silver.
With silver, you can transact with individuals, outside the system, and properly match payment to goods and services. Need some gas? Here's one or two 1oz silver rounds. Need groceries? Have a friend or someone willing to get you groceries in return for a couple of rounds, plus one silver round as a tip (pricey but worth it). Now idk how someone who's cancelled will deal with housing, but as far as daily necessities, an individual can continue to survive by using silver as a physical currency in this coming digital world.
And lastly, some tinfoil.
I am only aware of the silver shortage but have not delved into the details yet. So, take this with a grain of salt. But could it be possible the ultra-wealthy and in-the-know are aware of this, that in the coming era of digital currencies precious metals will be used as currencies again, gold for large transactions and silver for small? Is this why silver's supplies are too low, because they're hoarding it for what's coming? Because after realizing what may be coming, and knowing my personal risk of being cancelled, I want as much silver as I can get.
Because with silver you can survive outside this digital system.

There are premiums on all gold, be it coins or bars. I live in an area with an abundance of LCS to pick from. I drive 45 minutes away from my house to go to a very reputable dealer with reasonable markup. The key is to buy and hold. PMforsale is a good place to buy and low premiums you can also check local message boards, but scammers can be hard to spot. So you also need to do some self education on spotting fakes. Get a digital scale, digital calipers, and a ping test app. All are very inexpensive ways to check coins or bars. Remember if a deal sounds to good to be true it probably is fake. Not many people are willingly going to sell below spot.

I was but got rid of most of it (1,000+ dimes and quarters) when silver hit $26/oz recently. Living in the U.S., I could never get a dealer to quote me even close to melt value for it if I wanted to sell, while they would pay me like $7 OVER melt for 90% Constitutional a couple months ago. I got like $23.50/oz when I sold it, taking a small loss, but I was happy to do so, believing \[they\] would gradually/temporarily take silver back down (right so far) but PRIMARILY knowing I'd never have to be reminded again how badly-treated 5% of my stack was. I LOVE Canadian silver, and held onto ALL my HALVES and DOLLARS (only had like 37 Halves and 4 Canadian Dollars)—something about the HALVES I really like, and yours are GORGEOUS—but I no longer want any relevant portion of my stack to be held in such low esteem by every LCS in my area. I often say "silver is silver" and that's all fine and good until you might need to sell it and see that .999 rounds/bars and U.S. 90% command a premium, whereas most Canadian and nearly any variety of Sterling won't even fetch melt.
Sorry to be a bit of a downer—just being honest—given the right scenario, I'd buy more, because I still think they're great for checking off the boxes of "Sovereign Mint/Legal Tender" coins (harsher penalty/less incentive to counterfeit), VERY fractional sizes, highly recognizable (even by neighbors to the south)... what's not to like?!?!
The ONLY thing I don't like is what dealers offer to buy them back at!
Can anyone tell me how I would have done living in Ontario if I wanted to sell them to my LCS?

What I hate about this kind of thing is that most people consider it fake due to the price. So if a scammer just tried to scam you out of more money, people would think it's legit.
One reason why I avoid Eagles, but if I bought them I'd only buy them from a twisted LCS or a reputable distributor.

I’m doing 50% in PM, 25% real estate and REIT, 25% in stocks and bonds. When I first started stacking my LCS guy told me to do that and I’ve been on that path since.
You should worry about what everyone else has made? Who cares? You own real solid currency, and you’ve been saving for 15 years.
You’re a fantastic human, and I think your years of stacking are paying off. If price holds around 22-23, we could see some big level ups with how bad the economy is right now.

If you sell items to your LCS that total $10k or more, the shop owner is required to file a form with the IRS. The government wants to know about large sums of cash transactions.

Liquidating is not simple.
It is a good store of value, but you will lose a lot, especially if you will have to liquidate a large amount and quickly. It will also be reportable to IRS, you'll have to cough up your cost basis and pay capital gains tax.
Any type of selling of gold for a better price (reddit, FB, eBay) will expose you to scams and "lost mail." LCS will almost always rip you off.
If profit is what you're after, go with paper gold, sell calls against it and you'll extract 5-8% annual yield out of it. You can sell it instantly also.
