Tron has been one of the most active chains with real usage for years, despite what people think about Justin Sun.
I wouldn't really call TON/GRAM one of the top performers.
Just buy projects that get usage and have decent tokenomics (modest unlocks and value accrual to the token).
Anything like : ETH, HYPE, SOL, BNB, TRX, AERO, JUP, JTO, ENA, PUMP, AAVE and even some smaller things like ORE, CARDS, PONS, etc. Any of those have actual fundamentals to fall back on, rather than just hoping you get saved by a pump.
