Sorry to hear that happened to him. But yeah, that's why dad spread everything out. Even if one box gets stolen, it isn't everything. (Though it makes me wonder, for your friends dad, if someone figured it was dirty money and wasn't likely to be reported. At least a bit odd for someone to keep cash at a BANK. If you're suspicious of keeping money in a bank, you'd likely hide it in a mattress or something. If there's no reason to hide it and you want the bank to have it, just put it in an account and get the interest.
