This is very interesting... In 2024, an FA restructured our IRAs, Trad & Roth, into all DFA funds (see below -- same ETFs and allocations in each IRA). Previously, I had them invested Boglehead-style using Schwab ETFs. After researching DFA, I was OK with the change. Not thrilled, but OK.
Since then, I'm not so sure anymore. I still feel like I'd rather have things much simpler with two or three mutual funds or ETFs. I'm not opposed to Vanguard (VTI/VXUS), but the IRAs are at Schwab and they do have some really good options that accomplish the same as Vanguard equivalents. Schwab doesn't allow buying fractional ETF shares, so I was considering just using their total market mutual funds.
What are your thoughts on dumping DFA and switching back to a Boglehead approach? Seems counterintuitive to do it now with the market down a bit (dang human nature & emotions), but I suppose it really doesn't much matter when I do it. Selling some stocks and buying some stocks...all in the same day. 🙂
FWIW, I'm 57, retired, and don't plan on tapping into IRAs for a few more years. Our taxable brokerage could easily carry us for 7-8 more years if needed.
Current DFA portfolio/allocation:
* DFUS - 33%
* DFAI - 18%
* DFUV - 14%
* DFAE - 9%
* DFSV - 10%
* DFAR - 5%
* DFIV - 5%
* DFEV - 3%
* DFIS - 3%
