For your RRSP, US-domiciled funds that hold US stocks are not subject to tax withholding on distributions, so that's the tax efficient route. Holding something like VT will exempt a large portion of the distributions and still give you international exposure.
For intermediate goals, all equity is probably too volatile. Consider some mix of equity and short duration treasuries based on your risk tolerance and flexibility for timing. XEQT (or VEQT) and CBIL (or VVSG).
