Been watching this too and it's brutal out there for long bonds right now. Rate environment has just been absolutely punishing for anything with serious duration risk.

I mean theoretically they'd bounce back hard if we hit a real recession and rates get slashed, but timing that is basically impossible. Could be next year, could be 2027, who knows. The carry is terrible right now and you're basically betting on a major economic downturn to make money.

Might be worth a small position if you're convinced we're heading for a hard landing, but I wouldn't go heavy on ZFL unless you've got a crystal ball hidden somewhere.

Seems long bonds have taken a decent hit for a decent period of time here? Wondering if folks see them (and linked ETF's such as ZFL) as decent long term plays, and if so (or not?) why?
