Your points are quite valid. Copper is known as the recession indicator, aka "Dr Copper". However, the metal is already down 35% or so since the peaks in March22, just a few months ago. You can argue that much of the "recession" is already priced in.
More important than the recession is actually China's Covid policy as there's an insane amount of copper that's used in China for everything and their Covid policy is just killing overall consumption.
Long-term, copper usage will skyrocket - with EV's, renewable energy, etc.. the world needs a shit ton of copper. So this might be a 1-2 year play.
For CMMC in particular, this stock is in the dumpster.. even though they just increased their reserve and sold off their Australian holding for essentially the total market cap. of the company. There is a probability that they might be an acquisition target at these prices.

CMMC is really interesting - their largest shareholder is Zeta, a resource holding company on the Australian exchange. Those guys are in bad times and selling off bigly right now - they are dumping 250K-500K shares in CMMC each day right now.
If you look at the last 5 days as a comparison, CS has gone up 9.4% and CMMC has gone down 1.7% which is huge given how tightly correlated they are.
I would keep a tight eye on this one - the continued downward pressure from half the volume being from an indiscriminate seller will present a buying opportunity.
