Just started? time is your greatest supporter! Get a \*EQT etf (e.g. VEQT) or CAGE.
Personally, I'd pick VEQT over XEQT. When vanguard lowered the fees, it was to help investors. When BR lowered the fees, it was to compete with Vanguard. BR had been milking Canadian investors for years with high fees till Vanguard came to Canada.
