A while back I made some posts on here about Blackberry's new middleware automotive product, IVY. They have shifted from IVY to making an entire foundational platform for cars. This new platform, Alloy Kore, won its first contract for $100M+ just yesterday for a group making commercial vehicles. Mercedes and potentially other manufacturers are already testing the platform.
I'm expecting Mercedes, VW, BMW, Volvo, and Stellantis to all eventually sign on to Alloy Kore. Many of these companies have spent a lot of $ and struggled to implement software into the car. The Euro companies are also losing their lunch to the Chinese manufacturers. Alloy Kore provides them with a foundational platform they can build off, similar to what Android does for phone manufacturers.
