Even in the US there are public airports that work very well but it’s all dependent on having a well run hub carrier that partners with the airport authority.
The Delta hubs (outside ATL which is a monster airport) in the US (MSP, DTW and SLC) are all better than anything in Canada because they have well run airport authorities with an exceptionally well run hub carrier. He’ll, Delta got so fed up with the state of LaGuardia that they just funded the entire renovation (which will be paid back in the form of landing fee credits).
I have not been impressed with the airport authorities at any Canadian airports. They’re just not very good. Europe has plenty of privatized airports. The British privatized airports in the 80s. And there are plenty of others in the EU.
