As /u/ProgramSure8241 pointed out, if you are going to hold a US holding, your RRSP is the best place to do it. That might be the best place to consider something like VT. If you will have the contribution room, putting the $4K USD there might be worth considering.
You can also consider a three-fund mix which is what the Bogleheads typically recommend. That's VTI, VXUS, and BND for Vanguard or ITOT, IXUS, or AGG/IUSB for Blackrock.
