Price action isn't a "works" or "doesn't work" kind of thing. Price action does what it does - it's the traders job to have a plan in place for when price action does something in particular... "if price does this, then I do that."
I think a lot of traders, new ones in particular, look at every move as having meaning and then you try to guess what that meaning is and so you are constantly taking trades trying to understand the price action. That's just not how trading works.
If you have a tested and defined system, with a proven win rate and profit factor - then you can play the probabilities WHEN price does something that fits what your strategy is designed to exploit.
You used the analogy of learning a language... well, there's Spain Spanish, there's Spain Catalan, there's Mexican Spanish, there's Caribbean Spanish...etc, etc, and they all have slight nuances and differences. There is no ONE right way to speak Spanish. There's also no one right way to see price action. You have to learn the Spanish that works for the region you live in, and you have to learn the price action that works for the way you trade.
