I like the idea of this comparison, but for reference I wondered how the two compared to other random years in the 2000's. After all, the 10 top gainers are always way up, so how far off the average are these two years? Without knowing that, we don't know what the first chart is actually telling us. A quick google search of 2017's biggest nasdaq percentage gainers reveals:
* **Madrigal Pharmaceuticals Inc (MDGL):** \~516%
* **Sangamo Therapeutics (SGMO):** \~438%
* **Pieris Pharmaceuticals (PIRS):** \~437%
* **Esperion Therapeutics (ESPR):** \~426%
* **Ignyta (RXDX):** \~404%
* **Nektar Therapeutics (NKTR):** \~387%
* **Dynavax Technologies (DVAX):** \~373%
* **Siebert Financial (SIEB):** \~353%
* **Immunomedics (IMMU):** \~340%
* **Spectrum Pharmaceuticals (SPPI):** \~328%
Those average a decent amount lower than both 2000 and 2026. However, 2019 reaveals:
* **Nutex Health (NUTX):** \~39,900% (2019 data)
* **Synergy CHC Corp (SNYR):** \~5,284%
* **Weatherford International (WFRD):** \~5,163%
* **Axsome Therapeutics (AXSM):** \~3,578%
* **FitLife Brands (FTLF):** \~3,425%
* **Sobr Safe (SOBR):** \~3,309%
* **Nocera (NCRA):** \~1,233%
* **Aura Minerals (AUGO):** \~1,105%
* **Kodiak Sciences (KOD):** 919%
* **Provention Bio (PRVB):** 741%
Surprisingly, those are actually way higher than BOTH 2000 and 2026, which calls into question if the original data is of any real value. Small cap biotech stocks posted completely insane percentage growths that year. Mind you, I'm not saying there's not currently a bubble. I also remember the dot-com bubble. I'm just saying this particular comparison may not mean much; averages have to be looked at to put things into perspective.
