Don’t. Unless you have enough money somewhere else to cover your 100% of your charges for a few month.
I do like their services but their business model is based on tech on the front line to monitor accounts activity and detect fraud and on the lowest number of employees / customers on the market.
Reports from people here show that if an account is automatically flagged and suspended and escalated to humans, people have to wait for incredibly long delays before having access to their funds, or have it transferred to on another account if their Rev account is finally closed.
It’s not my personal experience : i’ve used Revolut for years without any pbs but the only one I faced - minor one - showed me that I could not trust their robustness and the quality of their support to solve issues in an acceptable time frame.
I redirected 1 of my sources of income for months to Revolut but felt alway worried about not having access to my money for some stupid reasons because of their account suspension practice so I went back to my initial use : all my revenues to my main bank - which also is a 100% online bank, but using more robust systems and human resources and practices - and Revolut for daily spending. And I was a bit sad about it because I do like the service and the app but well, I can’t trust them to be my main bank for now.
And here are sourced information on the matter, compiled by Perplexity :
“Yes, Revolut is currently under investigation and has recently been fined by European regulators.
\## Italy: investigation into unfair commercial practices
In July 2025, Italy’s Competition Authority (AGCM) opened a formal investigation into several Revolut group companies — Revolut Group Holdings Ltd, Revolut Bank UAB and Revolut Securities Europe UAB — over alleged \*\*unfair commercial practices\*\* relating to both investment and banking services.\[1\]\[2\]\[3\]\[4\]
According to AGCM, Revolut:
\- \*\*misled consumers about its investment services\*\*, for example by heavily promoting “commission‑free” share trading without clearly disclosing other costs and limitations attached to these offers;\[2\]\[3\]\[4\]\[1\]
\- used \*\*aggressive practices in managing banking services\*\*, including unclear and insufficient information on the conditions under which accounts can be suspended, limited or blocked, and carrying out such blocks in a way that left customers unable to access their funds without adequate prior notice;\[1\]\[2\]
\- failed to provide \*\*clear and exhaustive information on the requirements for obtaining an Italian IBAN\*\* (starting with “IT”) instead of a Lithuanian IBAN (starting with “LT”).\[1\]
On 8 July 2025, AGCM officials, supported by Italy’s financial police (Guardia di Finanza), carried out \*\*inspections at Revolut Bank’s Italian branch in Milan\*\*. Revolut has stated it is taking the investigation “very seriously”, is fully cooperating with the authority, and remains committed to high standards of compliance and customer protection.\[4\]\[5\]\[1\]

\## Lithuania: €3.5 million fine for AML shortcomings
In April 2025, the Bank of Lithuania imposed a \*\*€3.5 million fine\*\* on Revolut Bank UAB for violations of \*\*anti‑money laundering (AML) and counter‑terrorist financing (CFT)\*\* requirements.\[6\]\[7\]\[8\]\[9\]\[10\]
A scheduled inspection found \*\*irregularities and deficiencies in how Revolut monitored business relationships and transactions\*\*, which meant the bank \*\*did not always properly identify suspicious customer transactions\*\*. The central bank stressed that its investigation \*\*did not identify any confirmed cases of actual money laundering\*\*; the issue was about weaknesses in controls and monitoring processes.\[7\]\[8\]\[6\]
Revolut acknowledged the deficiencies, took corrective action on its own initiative, prepared a remediation plan, and entered into an \*\*administrative settlement agreement\*\* with the Bank of Lithuania. The fine represented about \*\*0.38–0.40% of Revolut Holdings Europe’s 2023 revenue\*\*, well below the maximum 10% allowed under EU rules.\[8\]\[9\]\[10\]\[6\]\[7\]

\## Context: high volume of suspicious transaction reports
In parallel, Lithuania’s Financial Crime Investigation Service (FNTT) has reported that around \*\*80% of all suspicious transaction reports\*\* it receives come from Revolut, mostly related to fraud targeting private individuals. This has intensified regulatory scrutiny of Revolut’s operations in Lithuania, even though the volume of reports also reflects the bank’s large customer base and active monitoring.\[12\]
