Gambling is listed as a "risky activity" as a source of income when it comes to anti money laundering. Generally, banks, financial services have to treat such customers with Enhanced Customer Due Diligence (ECDD) which typically involves filings and regular reporting. More risk averse financial services companies, won't touch you with a barge pole. So, likely when they found out about one of your sources of income (poker, I.e. gambling), they didnt want that risk and decided to close your account.
As for your contracting job, I assume you had Pro, if you didnt, that's another reason but the initial reason likely superseded anything else.
