Welcome to the sub, u/toughdesigner22. You've come to the right place. We are always happy to help with trade questions here on the sub, and I am happy to follow up with you regarding your recent trading experience.
As you may know, the price someone is willing to pay for shares is displayed as the "bid and the price at which someone is willing to sell you shares is displayed as the "ask." The difference between the two is known as the "spread."
That said, the bid and ask spreads are not the only factor to consider when trading. The trading volume can play a significant factor here as well. Volume is the number of shares that trade on any given day. As you may have noticed, China Citic Bank Unsponsored ADR (CHCJY) has a lower trading volume at this time, which may explain why your previous orders have not been filled. The article linked below is directed towards exchange-traded funds (ETFs); however, the same rules apply here for the position you are attempting to trade. Feel free to check it out to learn more.
[Understanding an ETF's spreads and volumes](https://www.fidelity.com/learning-center/investment-products/etf/etfs-spreads-volumes)
Additionally, as you have experienced, American Depositary Receipts (ADRs) are not currently eligible for recurring investments; however, I'm glad to pass along your post as feedback to the appropriate team for future consideration.
Feel free to stop by the sub anytime you have questions, and we will be glad to follow up with you to help!
