Well, unfortunately i don't know EcoPetrol, but it seems to be very similar to Petrobras (PBR), although PBR is with a lower P/E, but it's interesting to keep track of EcoPetrol, it seems to be solid, (Polemical Opinion) and the colombian government involvement is a good feature, because it forces the company to be more accountable to public, the government use to save it's companies.
If you like to explore south american stocks, i would say to keep track of VALE, BDORY, ITUB, NU, CIG and
MELI (I don't have it in my portfolio, but it's huge in ecommerce down here, although heavily speculated)
