The problem is bad actors in the stores trying to rip you off for personal gain. It's always gonna be a problem with rare valuable items and asymmetrical information about the items. As long as GameStop corporate always makes you whole and stays on top of corruption things should be fine. Just look at the situation with BAMF they where know for ripping you off even before the most recent major lawsuits. But then corporate got caught being in on it.
