I would personally consider either being invested in a slightly more conservative target date fund in your 401k, or allocating some funds to a bond fund in your 401k instead of investing in bonds in your brokerage. Fixed income is not as tax-efficient as equities.

More information about this setup here:

If you're still set on mirroring though, VT and VTG is a good combination.

I just setup my first non-tax advantaged account to save for retirement, and I’m not sure what to invest in.
**My Goal -** Invest in a similar percentage of equities and bonds as in my 401k and Backdoor Roth Target Date Fund.
**Options Considered**
**Target Date Fund Mutual Fund -** seems like a no due to dividends adding to taxable income.
**BND** \- seems like a no due to inclusion of corporate bonds which can track closely to equities.
**Blackrock iShares TDF ETF** \- I want to understand this option better. Fidelity expense ratio is 0.12% so I don’t think it’s too punitive to buy a non-Fidelity product.

**Do I Move Forward With…**
**VT -** Match equities percentage in my TDF
**VTG** \- Match bond percentage in my TDF. Is this the best bond product choice?

I want to be a Boglehead and keep things as simple and diversified as possible, while not making a stupid tax error.

Any help greatly appreciated!
