New here on Dividends, and should have joined back in 2009 when I could have impacted my retirement plans earlier. Bygones :)
**Scenario:** My wife and I are both over 65, with her drawing SSI and work retirement, and me still working, which I will likely do until 70 and then take full SSI. We have approximately $750k in retirement funds, plus real estate and other investments. This question is solely about risk/reward and income from the retirement pool of funds.
**Big question**: Among various options like annuities, I have looked at placing a lump sum of \~$550k in PDI, the leveraged fixed income Closed End Fund from PIMCO, the Dynamic Income Fund, that yields, based on current price, 13.3% and pays monthly and has paid a similar dividend without interruption since 2012.
**Desired Outcome:** This would give us income of \~$6k per month, which meets the threshold of income we need to be able to save almost all of my earnings. Not concerned about total return, just the steady income.
**Feedback:** Any thoughts on the validity, or lack thereof, of this approach?

Sorry, didn't consider that. My RMDs should be about $9k annually, but I'm 71 now so they haven't started. My interest/dividend income is \~$10k annually, and my SSI benefit is just below $19k.
Doing nothing I have zero taxes, and not needing to take any distributions from any retirement or stock account at this time. But I felt like if I didn't do something I'd be wasting the 3 year increased individual standard deduction. Possibly the answer is do nothing, owe zero taxes, be happy. Even in 3 years when I have to start RMDs my taxes will be only around $300.
