Puts on SPY tomorrow

thanks, i had the cash rule wrong. matching it on both sides is the right way to do it.
the beta numbers are the interesting part: 0.83 against 1.23 for random picks. drawdown scales with beta, so a good share of "shallower than 88 in 100" could just be that gap. quick check before the full regression: lever the random portfolios down to beta 0.83 and rerank the drawdown and vol. alpha near zero against SPY points the same way.

Could have replaced the above with just one statement. Buy SPY, QQQ and let it sleep.

SPY 600 then V

I like to factor in RSI, Fear and Greed Index, and Moving Averages...SPY and QQQ being the benchmark.

r/WallStreetBets is ultimately a community about making money through trading, and our conversations should shift around that.
Politics are fundamentally intertwined with making money, and political actions almost always have an impact on financial markets.
Still, we need to make sure that when we have these discussions, we're explicitly calling out the financial impacts of the politics we're discussing. Otherwise, the conversation can very easily veer off into flamewars and boring, unproductive, discussion.
Here's an example of a political comment that doesn't offer any value:
* "I hate this new green policy from the Biden administration. What a fucking idiot"
Now compare it to this:
* "I hate this new green policy from the Biden administration. It threatens the profit margins of oil companies because they will need to expand their OpEx. I have calls on Shell that are going to get decimated at open."
The latter is significantly more interesting and offers a great jumping point into market related discussion.
Put succinctly: If you choose to start or engage in arguments about libtards or Nazis instead of making fun of their bad SPY long then you're in the wrong place and we'll show you the door.
If you're not sure if your content is political, it probably is, and there's probably a better way to post it without making things weird.

All that being said, we are here to help. We want to make it as easy as possible for you to post to our community. We have to balance this with making the subreddit interesting for our readers.
If you need some guidance, don't hesitate to [reach out to modmail](https://old.reddit.com/message/compose/?to=/r/wallstreetbets) and we'll give you some pointers!

Go look at a 50 year SPY chart, every dip , hell every rally, has been a buy looking farther into the future.

Thanks for the input!
Cash: already matched. Each strategy's 500 random portfolios are drawn on the same quarters with the same holdings count and sit in cash on exactly the quarters the strategy stood aside; risk measures use traded quarters only, both sides. The one one-sided use of cash is the return comparison against SPY and RSP, where the strategy's cash quarters count as 0% against a fully invested index, which hurts the strategy, not helps it.
Independence: you're right. "4, at most 8" is the independent-test number. The bootstrap already resamples the same date blocks for every universe at once, and across those resampled decades the 88 return scores have an average pairwise correlation of 0.34, so it's more like three to five independent results. The grid is a map of where it worked, not 17 confirmations; the claim rests on the one pre-registered universe (return not detected, range 46 to 90; drawdown, vol and Sharpe clear of 50) and the holdout windows. I'll amend that claim.
Factors: not done yet, fair ask. Beta vs SPY is 0.83 for the median strategy and 1.23 for random picks; alpha is about zero vs SPY and +3 points a year vs RSP. The article already credits a good part of the lift to the profitability tilt. A regression on market, size, profitability and low vol is the right next step. All backtested, before costs.

I don't understand why RWL doesn't get more attention. Also has 5 star gold rating on Morningstar. Same 500 companies vs SPY, just ranked by revenue instead of market cap.

1) The simpler you keep it the better the chance of success.
2) Profitable trading is actually a very boring and slow. It requires patience . It will not give you thrills
3)It’s very difficult to beat buy and hold for stocks like SPY and QQQ.
4) Here’s a Simple Strategy. Divide your capital into 3 parts. Keep one part in cash and the remaining two invest in SPY and QQQ. When ever the day is green sell 1/4 of your green stock and when the day is red buy the stock with 1/4 of your cash bucket. Keep doing this and you will find success. A price move of 5 dollars above yesterday’s close is considered green and any price move of 5 dollars below yesterday’s close is considered red. ‘A bird in hand is worth two in the bush’. If you see a 5$. green take it. If it then gives you a ten$ green take that too. Same for the reds.

There is probably going to be a small recovery into monday, but it isnt going to retain the same strength as the previous recovery of SOXL into the 100s zone. SP500 will provide less downside than NASDAQ/TECH vs Fridays close. Buy SPY calls. NASDAQ sell calls. AI will have its recovery, but people arent ready to realize that yet. Significant tech stock earnings will be an upcoming danger zone.

That said, I could do simply covered calls on SPY/QQQ and make enough to do this for a living
But I enjoy my job and enjoy the perks of having a w2 income
To answer the rest of your questions: there is no average. It varies. Roughly 1.5% of the portfolio per month the last year.
How long it took? It’s more about how much your starting capital is, rather than experience
How many hours per week? Like…. 4 hours per week lol.

There are some interesting tradeoffs. VGT beats RWL in returns over the last years. But RWL has the best sharpe, volatility, and ATH % (keeps on making all time highs) and beats SPY in most of these. It's an excellent ETF for lower risk compounding returns. The fact that it has lower volatility profile than SPY but more returns is amazing
SCHD unfortunately hasn't done as well

If you read his post, he put everything into SPY for 20 years or so and then converted to cc’s. A lot of new investors think they actually have to save a million but in reality if you put in a few hundred k and let it compound for decades, it’s not nearly as daunting as it appears.
