Mid year rebalancing in process. Dividend port wide at about 6%.
Let go of MAC, LTGNIKL and SMC.
Bought a lot of REIT's, Banks, adding SCC and DMC.
Will go all in on PLUS below 10.....

The issue is that this strategy (classic SMC based) doesn’t work if the context is wrong
Waiting for a 4H supply zone is not bias , if you are trading inside a bigger range
The problem is the context you trade your strategy in
If you don’t choose delivering markets, this strategy will end up loosing in the long term (choppy price action)
But if you choose delivering market, it’s almost certain that price will not come back to the SnD zone (because it has too much strength and momentum to come back)

Hey, i just started trading on a demo account and i want to ask what experienced trades like you guys think about it because im currently still back testing it.
1: identify daily trend on 4hr chart
2:Mark strong s&r level on the the 1hr chart
3:wait for price to come to key level and look for strong rejection,MA crossover, engulfing candle or any other reversal candle pattern (mainly engulfing) (using 30 min chart for entries)
4:after i get my confluences i wait for my confirmation candle to close then buy or sell depending on the position.
5: place my tp on the previous high or previous low depending on the position.
Please guys be brutally honest with me because i feel lost and i see all these ppl talking abt SMC, ICT and all that
Thank you.

Generic "price action" is just as empty as SMC/ICT.

I had the same problem as you: entering the market late. That's why I developed a technique that exploits a market equilibrium point, and today I'm profitable. Unfortunately, I can't reveal my strategy, but I can say that none of the schools of thought (price action, SMC, and tape reading) will work. Abandon them and become profitable.

It is impossible to prove that something unfalsifiable is effective or ineffective which is why I'm focused on market logic. Instead what he did was expose the flawed logic that it relies on.
>
Your saying no trading strategy works over the long run
Absolutely not, but strategies that rely on real market logic are more likely to survive as real edges. SMC does not fit the criterion.
>
Okay so your saying it’s all luck and will run out. Who does that effect? Do some people never run out of luck?

Instead of focusing on luck, you should focus on market microstructure (actual market logic).
The simulations show that profitability on a system that is supposed to breakeven on average can have persistent periods of profitability out of chance lasting over many trades (100s+). If you are truly curious you must read the article to understand.

It largely critiques **ICT’s explanations** rather than conclusively proving that SMC-style price-action patterns cannot have predictive value.
It doesn’t present large-scale, peer-reviewed testing showing that complete SMC strategies fail; instead, it argues from theory and selectively references isolated backtests.
It assumes that because the *story* behind SMC may be flawed, the *trading patterns* themselves cannot produce an edge. Those are related but not identical claims.
So the article is **more of a well-argued critique than definitive proof** that SMC cannot work.
it’s also worth noting that **your approach isn’t based solely on ICT lore**. You’ve described using higher-timeframe bias, volume, liquidity, structure, strict risk management, and session timing. Even if someone rejects ICT’s market narrative, that doesn’t automatically invalidate a disciplined, rule-based strategy that incorporates those tools.
I think I’ll be fine based on what I’ve seen, thanks for the article it’s interesting

fvg's are the most validated scam ever. They are based off ICT/SMC concepts which are known scams.

It means your success will not continue to profit without luck unless your system is based on real market logic, SMC is psuedoscientific at its core.
If you can't read for long intervals use an LLM like gpt to breakdown the article for you.

Much better than just 'Analyze' is something like: 'Analyze this chart using SMC/ICT. Identify HTF bias, market structure, liquidity, OBs, FVGs, premium/discount, then give the highest-probability setup with entry, SL, TP, and invalidation.'"

I agree that anecdotes don’t prove an edge. But the same logic doesn’t disprove one either. The only thing that matters is whether a strategy has a positive expectancy over a large sample of trades.
I for example use SMC theory, and over 24 months and 250+ trades I’m very profitable

A stock can be fundamentally great, but that alone isn't a reason to buy it.
The real question is where buyers and sellers are likely to step in. Some price levels attract aggressive buying. Those are demand zones. Others attract heavy selling. Those are supply zones.
Once you've identified those areas, wait for confirmation using the strategy you trust, whether it's Price Action, SMC, ICT, or anything else. Let the market come to you instead of forcing a trade.
Right now, the market is bearish, so expecting one way moves is unrealistic. If the market gives you profits, take them. If the trend continues, trail your stop loss. And if the trade goes against you, get out quickly.
The best traders aren't the ones who are always right. They're the ones who protect their capital when they're wrong.
