there is always someone saying this time is different; this time the world will end. There is always something in the news.
Some things to help your brain work through this:
1. go to the OG boglehead forum and read posts from the great recession. the feelings are viseral
2. just because something might happen with the markets you never know when it will happen. the economics were saying housing was propping up the US economy for years before Leeman Bros collapsed. If you try to time the market you will miss out on gains and you won't know where the bottom is to reinvest.
3. stop checking your accounts daily maybe more on the order of quarterly or annually.
4. Look at your returns over the last 10 years.
when things are down they are onsale.
Now, if you are feeling anxious, this might mean that you are too heavily invested in equities to begin with. You haven't shared your age or your investment timeline.

If you are in retirement, many folks feel like it's a good idea to have 3-5 years of withdrawals in bonds so if there is a protracted slowdown they don't have to sell their equities right away.
I had family members do make some rough long term choices during the great recession. one sold all the equities and went into bonds and then missed the 2 years of huge market gains post the recession. the other liquidated all their investments at the bottom and bought an annuity . . .now they are looking at selling their house because inflation has killed their monthly return from the annuity. I hope that I will make the same decisions on the next major correction that I did on the last one. (keep buying and don't change the investment balance) And that when I get close to retirement I will make sure to have the right amount in bonds for my risk profile.
