I made a post about this issue a while back- they don’t verify changes in sensitive operations such as changing phone numbers, email or password (current password not required) or MTL. Every FI I’ve dealt with does this re-auth.
Apparently they assume once you’ve authenticated with MFA then you can make these changes without re-authentication.
I don’t know if you have MFA off then will Fidelity prompt for verification for these kind of changes.
I made this post as something that can be done server side as a mitigation against session theft. I didn’t think about this particular consequence of no re-authentication where someone could accidentally enter someone else’s number/email on their own account.

No, having money transfer lock (MTL) active will not prevent your micro deposits from being distributed.

Thanks for the clarification! I understand the micro-deposit process now. I just had one additional question: while I’m waiting for the micro-deposits to arrive and complete the verification process, do I need to turn off MTL, or can it remain enabled?

There is generally no wait time to re-enable the MTL lock after a transfer. Once you initiate a transfer after disabling the MTL lock, you can turn your MTL back on, and your pending transfer request should not be interrupted.
