Their coal production shot up by 67% on September 8th compared to the average of the first three days of the month. Total production for this financial year is already sitting at 51.43 MT. Their coal supplies also jumped by 75% in that same short window.
It is not just the digging that improved, it is the shipping too. They more than doubled their railway loading from an average of 19 rakes a day to 41 rakes. Across the entire Coal India company, average daily production went up by 40% to 1.91 million tonnes a day in less than a week as the water cleared up.
Nearly 87% of this coal goes straight to power plants in states like UP, MP, and Rajasthan. Power demand is massive there right now, so there is absolutely no shortage of buyers for all this extra volume.
In my opinion, the market always overreacts to the rainy season and ignores this immediate bounce-back effect. The stock is currently sitting at a low P/E ratio of around 8.5 and still gives a solid 6.1% dividend yield. It feels incredibly undervalued right now. Are you guys buying the dip or waiting for the official Q2 earnings?
