Hey all. I’m a 35 year old trying to get into some personal investing. I have a 401k and everything, but wanted to put my personal money I don’t immediately need into a taxed portfolio. I started with stocks, realized I didn’t know what I was doing, made an over complicated portfolio with random etfs and mutual funds before finding you guys.
So the past week I’ve been working with ChatGPT to redo my portfolio to be a more boglehead style, since I love the simplicity and the idea.
Right now, in order of percentage of portfolio I have VTI, VT, FIGB, VXUS and SGOV. Just over $6000 currently.
I am thinking of selling the $2k I have in VT and splitting it in VTI and VXUS to make the portfolio simpler. I do like the idea of managing the international/domestic mix myself.
I am also thinking of selling FIGB since I found it has a high expense ratio (I have $800 in there) and going to FXNAX. I’m using fidelity and it has zero transaction fees. Also has a low expense ratio ratio.
Finally, I currently have a decent bit of money in a high yield savings account. It makes 4%, but was thinking of just transferring all or most to SGOV to use as an emergency fund/savings account. The savings account isn’t tied to my main bank, since all they do is this one savings account. I figure it will take the same amount of time to transfer money out of fidelity as it will the savings account.
